Convocation

concovation

I was actually excited to convocate this time - actually, the first time I've attended a convocation ceremony since when I graduated from UBC, I was already in Alberta working by the time convocation occured.

Also, I had won the Medal of Merit for the M.Sc. program, pretty much  for being a smarty pants, and excellent, and all that. However, as my kids observed "it's not even as big as a judo medal!" And it didn't even come with a ribbon to hang around your neck.

I didn't know my name was going to be in the paper, but everyone kept telling me about it so Tim got a copy so we could see it was not merely a rumour.

I had to run out and buy a paper

Even without the extra fancy recognition (and getting to walk across the stage running the gauntlet of handshakes twice) it was a happy day. It has been a long 2.5 years and I think the children are even happier than I am that it is done at last.
