The younger judo kids rarely have the chance to compete early in the year, as most of the fall tournaments, including the Senda cup, tend to be for U-15 and older. Thus the inception of the Florence Senda invitational, allowing the younger children a chance to compete. Stasha is at the older end of that "younger children" group, as are some of her friends.
Though Theo is technically still younge enough to compete, he and the other kids who are regulars on the tournament circuit took this opportunity to referee. It gives him the chance to look slick in his white shirt and band pants, as well as authoratative.
Mrs. Senda, looking spry as a teenager, awarding medals as always exoriting the youngesters to do their best and keep up their judo.
