I've thrown off the shackles

I woke up this morning with a sudden feeling of liberation. Why? Because as of last night I am no longer the president of the Lethbridge Montressori Society. At the Annual General Meeting yesterday, my term ended and a new Board of Directors and Executive was elected.

Although I strongly believe in parent volunteerism in schools and club activities, I found that  being the president of an organization responsible for the use of public funds and maintaining a partnership between the parent group and two levels of school administration completely outside my skill set, as they like to say. I'm not sorry I did it, and in many ways I did find it rewarding. As glad as I was to have had the chance to do it, I'm even more glad to have the chance to pass it on.

So, if I ever look as though I am about to run for the executive of any board again be it judo, swimming, or Ukrainian dancing, point me to this post, will you?

And here is my Friday iPod Top 10, according to the rules posted by my friend Andrea:
"Here's our weekly "face the music" post. Take out your iPod. Put it in
shuffle mode. Tell us the first ten songs that appear, and no fair
leaving out the ones that make you look like a dork or adding ones that
you think will make you look cool."

  1. Holy crap, I have no idea who most of those people are! Except the epic movie soundtrack stuff, of course.
Just this week I signed on for a second term on the Kinderclub board. Just as secretary though, which is nice, because I hate reading other people's badly formatted minutes. And my board involvement is enough to make sure meetings get set around *my* schedule. Muahahaha!
BTW, let me know what textbooks you need for next term. There's a chance I'll have some of the anatomy or physiology stuff.

  4. Awww - I'm jealous - I want to play the ipod game!! I'm hoping that Mike is swift enough to catch all my hints about wanting an ipod for Christmas. I read "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" to Mira - getting psyched up for the movie premiere! I'm glad I'm not the only one that remembers bawling like a baby through that one.
