In other news, Emily's visit concluded and Tim took her to Calgary to catch a plane back to Phoenix yesterday. We laid on plenty of propaganda for the benefits of going to University of Lethbridge - not only does it have a new media program in the field she's interested in, it would be a much less expensive education. However, even with a relatively warm winter (and it didn't so much as drop a snowflake the entire time she was here) the charms of Lethbridge vs. Phoenix seem to be rather pale. Still, it was nice to see her, though the kids moped around yesterday "It's just not the same without Emily". Meaning, who was going to play Game Cube with them and give them Tamagachi tips and piggy back rides?
We got a Christmas picture, but the weird camera angle makes me look absolutely lilleputian. See? I think it's the same effect they used to make hobbits look like hobbits in Lord of the Rings. Speaking of which....
Stasha really loves playing Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit, which we got for Christmas. No 7 year old should be as good at it as she is. Though when in doubt, the answer is either 3, Orthanc, or Legolas.
For the most part, we are
content to have quiet evenings. The kids are out of school till January 9, so hopefully we will have
the chance to get together with some school pals then. Aside from that, my only ambition for the rest of the holiday break is to sleep in every chance I get. I only have two courses when the term starts, but one of them is an 8:00 class. Arrrgh. Tim laughs at me everytime he thinks about it, as he considers this more than fair, since for the last couple of years he has had to leave the house while I remained snug in bed.
Lucky! We have to go back today. Sera didn't sleep til 1am last night! It's gonna be a fun morning.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2006! Another cause for jubilation? Mike got me an ipod - hurray!! I'm holding off on playing the game until I feel it will be a true representation of my music (I'm only up to the letter "M" in my/our CD collection.) Tell Emily the next time you talk to her that I know someone who went through the media program in Lethbridge - and has been recently recruited by a Toronto newsteam. They must be doing something right!
ReplyDeleteTotally cool, Trish! You'll love your iPod! Yay Mike!
ReplyDeleteGood news about the media program, too. Hopefully Emily will consider it.
