Party on! (and iPod top 10)

Last night we had a couple of friends over from my book club, with their kids. We were friends before we formed the book club, and before the children got so busy with school (damn school!) and extra activities, we used to get together for playdates quite often. But this is probably the first time these kids have seen each other in several months. They are at a terrific age for these kinds of get togethers - the older kids look after the little ones, so it was minimal supervision and intervention for the moms. All we had to do was monitor things like making sure everyone put their swords away before coming to eat at the table.

Although the children paid scarce attention to it, later in the evening we put in the DVD of the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp. We tried not to look - as my friend Nancy said, "the main reason I don't want to see this is because I LOVE Johnny Depp!"
However, for me the scariest thing about the DVD wasn't Johnny Depp's page boy hair or weird overbite.  It was the Oompa Loompa dance instruction segment at the end, which my kids discovered shortly after everyone left.

They were right back at it first this morning. It takes a while to perfect those moves!

And here's my iPod top 10 for this weekend -not overly humiliating this week, but it does remind me that there's a ton of stuff on my iPod I have never listened to - the Tara Brach stuff, for instance!

Awakening from the Dream - Tara Brach, Dharma talks
Jivamukti Yoga Class 3 - Kelly Morris
Greensleeves - Liz Story, Best of a Winter's Night
Cotton-eyed Joe - The Chieftains, Another Country
Thirty Summers - Cowboy Junkies, the Caution Horses
Virasana - John Friend, Anusara 101
Here Come my Baby - Cat Stevens, Rushmore soundtrack
Ugbazhkylar Ooldary - Tuva, Echoes from the Spirit World
Land of the Silver Birch - Jack Grunsky, Imaginary Window
